Marketing Yourself
You can be an amazing person, have a phenomenal talent, have written a motivational book, or be the funniest person in the world. None of it matters if no one ever knows who you are. For many years, I didn't do anything I wanted to do because I thought it would be no point. I don't know anyone important or have a bunch of friends and family to support me. I realize now that you have to treat yourself just like a business. All businesses need marketing and to be advertised. No one can find you if you are hiding inside of your home. No one will read that lovely book you wrote if no one knows it exists.
Marketing is extremely hard and can be quite costly. It is also hit or miss. You never know what is going to work and bring in the best results. There is tons of trial and error. When I worked in marketing and did campaigns for clients, so many people thought that I was a miracle worker. I can only put the information out there. No one can guarantee results. There are, however, many things that you can do that are inexpensive and free. Please keep in mind that this one thing is true. It takes money to make money. This is the case no matter who you are or what you are selling.
Here are some free and easy ways to market yourself:
You have seen this so many times. Get out there. Set up a website. Start a blog. Post Youtube videos. Social media is obviously huge. These things can take some time and dedication, but they work. Just be you and have some fun.
Set a small budget and pay per click advertise. Choose one of your avenues to market even if it is just a few bucks a week. Depending on what you are marketing, fiverr also offers some pretty cheap services. Some are hit or miss for sure. For the money, it's worth it.
No matter what, don't give up. You never know when something you will work and bring in results beyond your wildest dreams.
